Club Love for Shirts Vvv-venlo

In our mini-series ‘Club Love for Shirts’, we look for the most beautiful, most colorful, or the most special shirts from the four professional clubs in our province. For the last part of this series, we visited Peter Janssen in Horst.

A football shirt is often not just a shirt. Every football shirt has a story and symbolizes a period full of successes or a period with lows.

Museum
Peter Janssen’s attic could just as easily have been an official museum of VVV-Venlo. Over the years, Janssen has collected more than 180 shirts from his beloved club from Venlo. “I buy most shirts via eBay and Marktplaats. And sometimes I am spontaneously offered a gem by someone who has found a shirt in the attic and does nothing with it. I try to keep my collection as complete as possible. As a goalkeeper shirt in four different colors is worn during a season, then I just have to have all four of them. ”
Sjors
As a little boy, Janssen went to De Koel on the basis of his father. Today, Janssen has a son of his own and named him after a well-known former VVV tourist. “My son Sjors is named after defender Sjors Verdellen. Sjors has now also started collecting VVV shirts. I hope he will take over my collection later. At least it won’t be his name.”

Shirt festival
The election of the most beautiful premier league shirt ever comes to an end on Friday 8 May. The ballot boxes have been closed since Monday and the Eredivisie will announce on Friday via the website which shirt the public thinks is the most beautiful.

In our mini-series ‘Club Love for Shirts’, we look for the most beautiful, most colorful, or the most special shirts from the four professional clubs in our province. For the third part of this series, we visited Eric de Jong in Born.

A football shirt is often not just a shirt. Every football shirt has a story and symbolizes a period full of successes or a period with lows.

De Baandert
De Jong is what you call a real Fortunes. He grew up under the illumination of the old football stadium of Fortuna in Sittard and has since collected over 70 shirts from his favorite club. “If we were at home and Fortuna played a match in De Baandert, our living room would be completely lit.”

Lady Fortuna
Lady Fortuna has had different faces over the years. The club’s logo has gone through a transformation four times. “I secretly think the logo from the late 1990s is the most beautiful of all. But the image of Lady Fortuna in the logo always has something special,” says De Jong.
